Abstract
Apart from specific groups of users (e.g., MSM, sexually trau- matized users) and phenomena of appearance (e.g., chem- sex), the theoretical discussion of sexuality and partnership among people with substance-related addiction disorders must be considered insufficient. This has consequences for the clinical practice of inpatient withdrawal therapy, where there is usually a blankspace in this respect. This paper is a plea for a conceptual expansion of the clinical setting; it demonstrates the necessity of including and considering the sexuality of patients and traces possible conditions of the exist- ing voids. As a starting point, the first descriptive findings of a survey of patients with a substance-related addiction disorder (n=70) are presented and discussed.
